“Happy Together 2015” hits Aurora

Hippiefest admat 2008 v2.cdrWhen I speak about the Paramount Theatre in Aurora, it is about their wonderful Broadway series. Each year, the shows get stronger and stronger, but, there is more to this fabulous venue than this series of musicals- they bring in concerts and this month, they will bring us back to the fabulous days of Rock ‘N Roll with the “Happy Togehter Tour”. This concert on Friday, August 21st allows us to return to our youth and watch groups that we watched back then.. The Association, The Turtles and one that Chicago will recall with warmth, The Buckinghams.

I recall working at Six Corners ( also known as Milwaukee /Irving/Cicero )at Bernard’s Men’s Wear, where this Chicago group came in to buy matching outfits. We had sone our windows with the Fab Four hoping that young bands would want to come in and buy outfits. Turns out The Buckinghams did and George used ot say that their success was due to the outfits they bought at Bernard’s. I am sure that thoose outfits are gone by now, but the memory lingers on, as does the music in our minds and our souls. Now for what they say:

The Happy Together Tour is back at it, bringing your radio to life on the Paramount stage… and this year’s line-up will totally rock your world. It’s stacked with The Grassroots and their “Midnight Confessions.” Mark Lindsay from Paul Revere & The Raiders. Chicago’s very own The Buckinghams. The Cowsills taking you down “The Path of Love.” The Association and their slew of chart toppers. And, of course, Flo & Eddie singing that classic Turtles hit the tour is literally named after: “Happy Together.” Get ready to celebrate the golden age of rock-n-roll with your favorite hits, and the artists who play them, live on the Paramount stage.
